INTRODUCTION:

According to SOCSO records, there are 22 companies deemed to have the highest claim related to commuting accident in Johor at year 2014. UTM has done gap analysis on these companies to see the status of commuting safety programmes and management in the company for instance policy, organisation, training programme etc. This analysis was done based on the implementation of SIRIM4:2014. There are three instruments used for conducting analysis which are interview, checklist, and data from SOCSO.

PROJECT OUTPUT:

There are four main aspects related to commuting safety that needs to be addressed. They are legal requirements, authority, code of practice, and readiness. There is no specific law related to commuting safety at workplace in Malaysia, hence the reluctance and hesitance to implement the safety management. Most agencies do not implement a proactive approach for the purpose of prevention. For code of practice, commuting safety management is something new in Malaysia, as the existing code of practice are on commuting safety issues. Generally, all companies involved in this study are not ready for the implementation.
